Old farm buildings at Coed Howell
Old farm buildings that do not seem to be in use currently and the accompanying farm house that is certainly occupied. They have two dogs - one very keen and wily (a mature almost white dog with blue eyes) - who would have had a nip at my calf muscle if I hadn't through respect for farm dogs had the foresight to avoid turning my back and the deterrent of a short stick snapped from the hedgerow. I never use such a stick - but even the meanest farmyard dog gets second thoughts if it sees and hears a stick whirring through the air if you swipe as you approach. Mutual respect is quicky established. Farm dogs are only ever doing their allotted job and they see walkers as intransigent two-legged sheep or unwelcome n'er-do-wells who need encouragement to pass through rapidly. That's how they think. They are defending their pack. Occasionally you do come across the complete psycho dog - but like crazy people they are usually fairly easy to spot and avoid. If a confrontation does then occur instantly get in touch with your inner caveman/woman and show em who's boss! Easily said, I know....
