Bird boxes have been placed in many of the trees in the grounds. This tree has a small rectangular one. The tube is a dormouse nesting box. The box can be easily inspected to determine if it is in use. (With thanks to M J Roscoe for this information)

Llanyrafon Manor Rural Heritage Centre, Cwmbran
After major restoration work, one of Cwmbran's oldest buildings was officially reopened as a Rural Heritage Centre in June 2012. Llanyrafon Manor, also known as Llanyrafon Farm, was built on the east bank of the Afon Lwyd in the 1550s.
