St Mary Street, Monmouth
'Nothing of note' says the Gwent Pevsner (John Newman). This does not quite do this very pleasant street of 19th century houses justice in my opinion.

St Mary's Catholic Church, Monmouth
It claims to be the oldest pre-reformation church in Wales.
This is one of those frustrating churches where it is impossible to get a good photograph due to proximity of other buildings

Duffryn House, St mary's Street
Laying back from the street line, this extraordinary house has been at times a chapel and a theatre (Monmouth town website). The capitals of the bay window defy description, but the building adds variety to the scene.

St Mary Street
I am afraid that hard wearing silk hats are no longer available from Hillmans the milliners. Not much else has changed, however.
