Heart of the Furnace, dragon sculpture, Bank Square
As part of the regeneration of the former steel (and coal) town of Ebbw Vale in the South Wales valleys a series of public art works were commissioned.
This is called 'Heart of the Furnace, Calon y Ffwrnais', and is a 4 metre high stainless steel dragon created by South Wales blacksmiths Sam Pask and William Holland of Phoenix Forge which stands in Bank Square.
it has become a much loved and photographed sculpture in the town.

Towards The Walk, Ebbw Vale
Looking across Holland Street towards McDonald's on the southern side of The Walk; viewed from the north east corner of the car park on Armoury Terrace. The white building, left, is on The Walk, and the former industrial land behind seems to be in need of regeneration in this once thriving steel town.
