Heart of the Furnace, dragon sculpture, Bank Square
As part of the regeneration of the former steel (and coal) town of Ebbw Vale in the South Wales valleys a series of public art works were commissioned.
This is called 'Heart of the Furnace, Calon y Ffwrnais', and is a 4 metre high stainless steel dragon created by South Wales blacksmiths Sam Pask and William Holland of Phoenix Forge which stands in Bank Square.
it has become a much loved and photographed sculpture in the town.

Ebbw Vale Mechanical Link
Viewed from Lime Avenue. Not yet open in mid May 2015, the £2.5 million Mechanical Link is part of the Ebbw Vale Town Regeneration Programme. It is a cableway system between the former steelworks site (now occupied by a college campus, a school and the newly-opened Ebbw Vale Town railway station) up to the edge of the A4046.
A cabin holding about 20 people (weight limit 1,850 kg) will provide an easy and efficient pedestrian link to and from the town centre. The track is c47m long and rises c23m. Each journey will take about three minutes.

Sweet shop at 61 Bethcar Street, next door to the post office. http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1830249 61 Bethcar Street has had various recent uses, including as a political campaign office and as Forget Me Not florists.
