Ebenezer chapel, Carno Street, Rhymney
A Calvinistic Methodist chapel dating from 1846, though this building dates from 1906, most likely replacing or enlarging an earlier one possibly on the same site. It looks to have fallen out of use as a place of worship.
I always wonder what the chapel Deacons of 1906 would say and do if confronted with 21st century life via the miracle of time travel, reincarnation or the mixing of parallel universes or some other impossible phenomena.
The older ones or more easily shocked would possibly drop dead (again) on the spot ("flight!? body piercing!!!? votes for women?"....thump). But I daresay some would cotton on, elbow you aside and shout "Give me some of that!" and hare off in search of instant gratification and eternal damnation.
