Aneurin Bevan Plaque, Tredegar
Aneurin 'Nye' Bevan was born in Tredegar in 1897.
This plaque remembers that he was the architect of the National Health Service which was established in 1948.
The quotation on the plaque is “All I am doing is extending to the entire population of Brtain the benefits we had in Tredegar for a generation or more. We are going to Tredegar-ise you.”

The Collier and his Butty, Tredegar
A sculpture made from laser-cut stainless steel at the location of a former coal level.
It depicts John Jones who hewed a huge lump of coal for the 1851 exhibition in London http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1180407 .
His butty (young helper) depicts Thomas Bennett, age 14, who gave evidence to an inquiry into the Condition of Children employed in Mines, 1841.
