The Mill Street zebra crossing leads to Pretty Pooch dog grooming salon.
Also in view are Leonard's Gents Hair Stylist and Railway Tandoori Oriental Fry.
Although Belisha beacons had marked pedestrian crossings in the UK from 1934, it was not until 1951 that the now familiar black and white stripes stretching across the width of the road were officially introduced. Previously, there were only metal studs across the road surface.

Preparation for electrification, platform 3, Newport railway station
Support structures for overhead electricity power cables are in place on October 4th 2018 in preparation for the electrification of the South Wales Main Line to Cardiff. Electric trains are scheduled to run on this route from 2019 - exact start date not yet announced.
