Baileys Bodega, Scard Street, Baneswell, Newport
On the north side of Scard Street, a short (60 metres) street between North Street and Bailey Street (ahead). Last time I was here, Baileys was a pub. The English meanings of the Spanish word bodega, as defined by Chambers English Dictionary, are either a wine shop, or a warehouse for storing and maturing wine.
Neither fits the bill here - it still looks like a pub (or perhaps club) to me.

Appropriately affixed to a wall in Pump Street, Baneswell, the plaque records
"BEFORE PIPED WATER IN 1848 NEWPORT'S
19,000 INHABITANTS DREW FROM SPRINGS
AND WELLS AS IN MEDIEVAL TIMES.
DISTRICTS WERE NAMED AFTER WELLS
THOUGH CHOLERA AND TYPHOID
EPIDEMICS INDICATE THEY WERE NOT

"Not a pure supply" applied in the case of the Baneswell pump. Its water was often contaminated with underground runoff down Stow Hill from St Woolos cathedral cemetery...
