Boarded-up side of Griffin Street, Newport
On November 21st 2015, the south side of Griffin Street is a scene of dereliction, with several boarded-up properties and TO LET boards in view. This is in contrast with thriving Friars Walk retail, eating and leisure complex which was officially opened nearby nine days earlier. The South Wales Argus reported that more than 100 thousand people visited Friars Walk on its opening day and more than 350 thousand shopped, ate or used the leisure facilities there on the following weekend. Friars Walk includes Debenhams http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4743136 and an 8-screen Cineworld. http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4746342
