Globe Inn, Maindee
The attraction of Big Screen Sports was not enough to save the Globe Inn, Chepstow Road, in the busy shopping area of Maindee.

A F Thomas & Sons, Maindee
Dominating the corner of Chepstow Road and Albert Avenue, and reaching as far as Duckpool Road, are the premises of A F Thomas & Sons, electrical retailers.
These premises were acquired in 1970. The firm began in 1932 at premises in Commercial Road. http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1791864 In 1992, their third shop was opened, in Abergavenny. http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1817792
