Clock arch on a roundabout, Glan Llyn, Newport
This structure was commissioned by Newport Council and originally constructed at the Ebbw Vale Garden Festival in 1992.
Following the festival it was moved to John Frost Square in Newport where it remained until 2008 when the area was redeveloped.
It was reconstructed at this location on the edge of Glan Llyn, a large new housing development, in 2015.
At the first two locations, when the hour chimed, steam would appear at the top of the structure as it deformed to reveal a number of characters.
It was originally entitled “In the Nick of Time” but is now generally referred to as “The Newport Clock”.
