Site of Caerleon station, Newport - Hereford main line, 1990
View SW, towards Newport, Cardiff etc., also Bristol via Severn Tunnel: ex-GWR North - West main line, also until 30/4/62 the Newport - Eastern Valley line service ran through here to Blaenavon. Caerleon station also was closed to passengers on 30/4/62, but remained for goods until 29/11/65. (See Image] for a view by John Grayson in the other direction).

Autumn colours behind Caerleon Veterinary Centre
Viewed on November 21st 2021. Caerleon Veterinary Centre, part of the Usk Veterinary Centre Group, is in a former railway station building in Taverner Trading Estate on the site of Caerleon station which closed in April 1962 after the cessation of local passenger services.

This train was heading north on the 'Eastern Valleys' route to Blaenavon. The station (and the route to Blaenavon) are both closed but this line is still open carrying the Cardiff-Manchester trains. [Looking NE]

Former railway station building, Caerleon
Now known as Units 11 and 12, Taverner Trading Estate, Station Road, this is the
former Caerleon station building. The station closed in April 1962 following the cessation of local passenger services.
The building is now occupied by Caerleon Veterinary Centre, part of the Usk Veterinary Centre Group.

Steps from Taverner Trading Estate to Station Road, Caerleon
The steps turn through 90 degrees half way up. They connect Station Road (ahead) and Taverner Trading Estate, formerly the yard of Caerleon railway station, which closed in 1962.
