Late medieval building with 16th and 17th century changes.
CADW records that the building began as a small house and
has been increased in size. It was one house in 1980.

Lychgate, Christchurch, Newport
At the entrance to Holy Trinity churchyard in the Church in Wales
Diocese of Monmouth. Derived from an old English word for a corpse,
a lychgate is the roofed gateway to a burial ground, formerly used to
shelter a coffin until the clergyman’s arrival for the burial or
pre-burial service.
