Reminder of a bygone age, Porthycarne Street, Usk
In 2016, reminders of the era when horses and horsedrawn vehicles were the fastest method of travel by road remain on this building, part of the Three Salmons Hotel opposite the main building. Horses were kept in these livery stables. Text on the wall shows OSTLERS BELL. Ostlers were the stablemen or grooms.

Viewed across the A472 in the centre of Usk, Monmouthshire. This junction is the southern end of the B4598, here named Porthycarne Street. The B4598 extends ahead for about 16km (10 miles) to the southern edge of Abergavenny, also in Monmouthshire.
