Steel for the Tinplate works at Ebbw Vale
Growling up the valley is a heavy train of steel for the tinplate works at Ebbw Vale.The steel works are closed now and no freight heads up this valley by rail but at least the passenger service has at last re-opened.

Nearly there
The railway line to Ebbw Vale is being restored, and although opening is a couple of months behind schedules it appears imminent (February 2008). In the meantime an express bus service continues to operate between Newport and Ebbw Vale.
