Pye Corner railway station, Newport
Opened on December 14th 2014, the station was designed with the future in mind. The platform can accommodate trains of up to six coaches. Trains which stopped here today (late May 2015) have two coaches.
Also the railbed is wide enough for an extra track to be installed to the left of the current single track.
Further north on this route today, I saw examples of track doubling in progress.

Opened in 2014 by Network Rail on the line from Cardiff and Newport to Ebbw Vale.
View south towards Cardiff, Newport etc. Just beyond the current platform is the site of Bassaleg Junction station (1850-1962).
