Green lane, Chelveston
The lane gives access to a bridleway and a footpath both of which climb the hill to the former airfield. The notice on the gatepost states that the paths are temporarily closed. The puddle is due to a blocked culvert.

305th Bombardment Group Memorial, Chelveston
This memorial was built at the side of Higham Road in the centre of the village of Chelveston, during 2006 -7. It commemorates the service of The 305th Bombardment Group (Heavy) which comprised the 364th, 365th, 366th & 422nd Bomb Squadrons of 40th Combat Wing of the 1st Air Division of the US 8th Air Force, who operated out of RAF Chelveston between 1942-1945.
The 305th Bomb Group completed 480 missions flying B-17 "Flying Fortresses". They lost 158 aircraft and 769 personnel died whilst carrying out 9,231 aircraft sorties. The memorial uses local stone and polished granite with the former windsock mast from the main "J" hanger supporting a B-17 weather vane. It measures 23ft (7m) from the base to the top of the mast.
