Nether Heyford: The Bliss Charity School
The School was endowed in 1674 by the will of William Bliss, a wine merchant who lived in Southwark, but who had been born and brought up in Nether Heyford. In his will, William left £400 to the village, £100 for a schoolhouse and £300 to buy land, the rent from which would pay for the schoolmaster and upkeep of the school. The original school building was opened in 1683. The current school building seen here dates from 1880 and is a Grade II Listed structure.
