Art Nouveau window, Adelaide Street, Northampton
I spotted this window in a Northampton side street, after dark. The decoration shows unmistakable Art Nouveau influence, dating it to about 1900 - interesting, because this is the end-wall of a Georgian terrace in Barrack Road: Image

Adelaide Terrace, Barrack Road, Northampton
This short Georgian terrace caught my eye as I drove south along Barrack Road (the A508) after dark. A stylish building, which wouldn't look out of place in Cheltenham, or any other of the Georgian spa towns. What a shame, though, that two of the three properties have lost their wrought-iron fencing - most likely as a contribution to the war-effort in the 1940's. The railings outside the left-hand property look fine enough to be the originals. They could in any case serve as a pattern for the restoration of the whole frontage - and Barrack Road would be so much the prettier.
