UoN Riverside Campus, Avon UK Headquarters
Founded in America, in 1886, the Avon cosmetics company launched in the UK in 1959, in Northampton, rapidly becoming established as an iconic brand. The famous “ding dong – Avon calling” catchphrase was first heard in the company’s TV adverts which began in 1961. By 1969, Avon had opened its distribution centre at Corby and between 1989 and 2004, the company had a manufacturing facility located on the riverside site that now hosts the new University of Northampton Riverside Campus. Avon’s current UK headquarters has been on site since 2009.
