Two Red Buses in Northampton Town Centre
Taken in April 1972, this photo shows two Northampton Corporation Transport buses in Mercers Row NN1 2QL, the vehicles being Daimler CVG6s with Roe 59-seater bodywork. This type of vehicle was a common sight on Northampton's streets from the 1950s until the early 1980s, when the last of them dating from 1968 were withdrawn from service. The vehicle in front is on route 21 to Cottarville. First Northampton and Stagecoach Midlands now operate the bus services in Northampton, all the services departing from Greyfriars Bus Station nearby, SP7560 refers. All Saints Parish Church can just be seen to the left of the photo.
