Higham Ferrers War Memorial
The Higham Ferrers memorial is at the southern end of the town’s market Square. The memorial takes the form of a base surmounted by a plinth and a pillar with a semi-circular pediment at the top. The inscription “IN MEMORY OF GALLANT MEN FROM THIS TOWN WHO FELL IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-1918” can be found on the north face of the pillar in gold lettering. There is a figure of an angel holding a gold laurel wreath in her left hand carved in relief above the inscription and the town’s coat of arms is at the top of the pillar. There are 83 names listed for World War I and 26 for World War II. The memorial was unveiled 11th November 1921. It is a Grade II listed building.
