Rushden Lakes Shopping Centre, South Walk
The Rushden Lakes Shopping complex was constructed between 2016 and 2018 when it opened. It is built on the site of a former gravel works which processed gravel and sand extracted from the adjacent Nene valley. This view is looking across the car park from North Walk towards the Marks and Spencer store on South Walk.

Overlooking Rushden Lakes
The boardwalk overlooking the lake is home to a wildlife trust visitor centre, a boat hire outlet and several café and restaurants. In their turn, these are sited on the edge of a new, out-of-town retail development.

Rushden Lakes, Skew Bridge Lake
Skew Bridge Lake is the main lake that backs onto the Rushden Lakes shopping complex. It is one of a series of lakes (“the Rushden Lakes”) formed on the site where gravel and sand were extracted from the adjacent Nene valley. Decades of extraction resulted in a series of pits that filled with water to form a series of lakes along the valley.
