Preparing the track bed, Bramcote Lane tram stop
This specialist equipment treats the sub-soil with quicklime which stabilises the soil. The method avoids the need to remove large volumes of soil and bring in suitable base material, significantly reducing the amount of road traffic - and transport costs - during the works.

Clay strata
Exposed by works for the new Nottingham tram route. The alternating beds of grey and red clay are typical of much of the Nottingham area and led to a thriving brick-making industry, largely to the east of the City.
