High Street Beeston
The main shopping street in Beeston was once thronged with traffic but the pedestrianisation with the addition of trees and stone artwork has made it a much safer and more pleasant environment. See also Image

Stony-Faced
From a distance this could be mistaken for someone sitting in the pedestrianised area in the centre of Beeston watching the world go by but closer inspection shows that it is in fact part of some sculptural artwork. There is a great amount of detail on the sculpture including a bee on his hat and nearby is also a stone beehive. See also Image

Beeston High Road
The reason why Beeston High Road is such a pleasant place to shop compared with say Long Eaton High Street (http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/18922 ) is obvious. It is full of trees! Most, if not all, are London Plane. For some inexplicable reason six have, since my last visit, been brutally pollarded at about five feet above ground. Three of these are visible here. To what end I wonder? As can be seen from the tree in the middle distance, they were well-formed and not creating a "nuisance". If they are now allowed to recover, the new growth will be just at head-level.
