With Trafalgar and then Victory Roads off to the left.
Behind the photographer and to the right is the Ex British Ericsson, ex Plessey and now ex Siemens site. Many of the 20th century developments in telephone technology took place here. Including the first digital exchanges.

At the time that this was built the site of which it is a part was producing all the phones for the GPO (remember that?).
