The Boots Company, Beeston
The main entrance to the site from Humber Road. The unfussy Art Deco gatehouses and pillars are marred by a clutter of street furniture and the garish modern yellow portals behind. In the background is Sir Owen Williams acclaimed factory building (see Image).

The Boots Company, Beeston
One of the gatehouses at the Humber Road main entrance to the site. The clean Art Deco styling still gives this entrance a modern look.

Building D6 at Boots Factory Site
Opened in 1938, one of the very small number of industrial buildings to have been awarded Listed Grade I status - see https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1278028 for fuller information. Although by the same architect - Sir Evan Owen Williams - as the neighbouring D10 building https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/7159225 and built just six years later, the style is very different. In the foreground, the small roundabout I photographed in 2008 https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/678661 has been replaced with a larger version following the opening of the Thane Road extension. Also missing are the garish yellow gantries referred to in that view.
