This footpath has been created on the alignment of an old colliery railway that ran parallel to Nuthall Road, continuing to serve a landsale wharf into the 1960s.

Aspley Library window
It is astonishing that an authority which can be imaginative enough to provide a spectacular grille to the window can be so unimaginative as to then place the extremely undistinguished green sign above it.

Aspley Library
Nottingham is well provided with branch libraries of various ages. Aspley Library was opened in 1937 to serve the new Aspley estate which lay behind it. It is in a restrained Art Deco style.

The entrance to Melbourne Park Medical centre
The reason that there is a gap between the houses is that this is the alignment of a former colliery railway that ran parallel to Nuthall Road. It continued to serve a landsale wharf into the 1960s. It crossed Melbourne Road by a level crossing.
