Radford: Medway Street
The white building in the centre is where Pearce's ice cream was once made. Older Nottinghamians will remember it clearly - bright white vanilla, with tiny shards of ice in it. The building is now occupied by another ice cream maker, Coronato Bros. The colourful building in the distance, on the other side of the railway, is Opal 1, a block of student flats.

Radford: Wollaton Road
My reason for taking this unremarkable picture was to show the faded white lettering on the slate roof to the right of centre: F C Pearce. In the days before multinational margarine manufacturers monopolised the ice cream industry, everywhere had its own local favourite. Older Nottinghamians will have fond memories of Pearce's distinctive vanilla, bright white and with tiny shards of ice. The building is now the home of another ice cream maker, Coronato Bros, whose hoarding is on the right, next to Kylie's knees.

Commemorative bus on Wollaton Road
To mark 120 years of corporation transport this bus is painted in the Nottingham City Transport livery current from before the war until the 1960s. It is accelerating away from the Triumph Road traffic lights and is climbing to cross the railway on its way to the city centre via Ilkeston Road (the 28 service from Bilborough).

Wollaton Road and Player's Bonded Warehouse
This enormous leaf tobacco warehouse, which supplied Player's Radford factories, has been a stern landmark in these parts for as long as anyone can remember. It was about to be demolished when this photograph was taken.

On Wollaton Road in October
Looking towards the corner of Kennington Road and the traffic lights at the end of Triumph Road on a fine October morning. This section of Wollaton Road has been in the shadow of Player's Bonded Warehouse (offstage right) since 1939. It will be interesting to take a similar picture when its demolition is finished.

The view west from the corner of Triumph Road has changed with the demolition of two of the three Player's Bonded Warehouses. Nottingham University will develop their site.
