Nottingham - Basford, NG5
The Lodge at the entrance to Basford Cemetery with Nottingham Road (the B682 road) beyond it. The lodge is still occupied and presumably it is the occupants who are responsible for opening and securing the gates every morning and evening.

Basford Cemetery entrance
The lodge and gates date from around 1889 and are Listed Grade II. The cast iron gates are original.
There is a bench mark http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4122835 on the long disused gents toilets, just to the left of its entrance.

Bus on Nottingham Road, Basford
Nottingham City Transport vehicle 913, a Scania N230UD/Optare OmniDekka, begins the ascent of Nottingham Road in Basford while operating route 68 from Bulwell to Nottingham city centre. The trees on the right conceal a cemetery, which continues some way back from Nottingham Road, paralleling Perry Road. The junction of Nottingham Road with Valley Road, part of Nottingham's outer ring road, is visible in the background on the left.

Bench mark, Basford Cemetery
This is an early mark which was clearly discontinued by the early 20th century as it no longer appears on maps from about that time onward.

Nottingham City Transport bus in commemorative livery
Bus 676 was painted in the livery of the 1960s to commemorate the operation of the last trolleybus in the city in July 1966. It is seen here at essentially the same location as the trolleybus in this picture http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5053814 , although the stop has been moved a couple of bus lengths to the south side of the cemetery entrance. The trolleybus stop was where the tall cypress to the left now grows.

British Trolleybuses - Nottingham
This was the terminus of the final trolleybus route (36) in Nottingham, which ceased operating finally on July 1st 1966. 50 years later, the event was commemorated by painting a modern bus in the green and cream livery of the period http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5053802.
