Hyson Green: Radford Road
Looking towards Bentinck Road from the corner of Gregory Boulevard. This is still a busy shopping street, as it was when I was a child in the fifties - when the traffic was Ford Eights, 43 and 44 trolleybuses and Shipstone's Brewery horse-drawn drays.

Hyson Green: the corner of Gregory Boulevard and Radford Road
Tastee's Superstore was once the site of Beech's Department Store, where until the late 1950s there was a "Money on Wires" system, suspended from the ceiling, which took customers' money from the counters to a central cashier and returned their change. It was wonderfully old-fashioned even then, but fascinating to children. Unlike Woolworths round the corner in Radford Road, Beech's stocked Triang and Hornby train sets....
