Once the headquarters of Raleigh Cycles
In years gone by the main employers in this part of Nottingham were Raleigh Cycles and Player's Cigarettes. The factories no longer exist, but these former offices are now managed by the City Council and house small businesses. The building was designed by T Cecil Howitt, who was the architect of the Council House, Home Brewery in Daybrook, The Newton Building of Nottingham Trent University and other buildings in the city. The bronze panels between the ground- and first-floor windows depict naked cherubs operating lathes, drills and other machinery in defiance of health-and-safety guidelines - see Alan Murray-Rust's Image
