Vanished filling station
Three months or so before this view was taken, there was a filling station on this site; gone without trace, not even a car wash. The flats behind are one of the few high-rise estates in Nottingham.

Savoy Cinema, Lenton
The Savoy is a fairly traditional four screen cinema, located on Derby Road in Lenton and thus largely patronised (and apparently staffed) by students. I saw "This is England" (2006) at the Savoy, which was rather surreal as the tower blocks visible in the background appeared in the film.

Savoy Cinema
A remarkable survival of a traditional suburban cinema, still independent of the main multiplex groups. It owes its survival to being in an area with a high student population and being adventurous in its choice of films. On this view, one of the films being advertised (for a single showing) is the cult 'Withnail and I'.
