Flats on the Nottingham Canal
The canal passes quite close to Nottingham Castle, situated on a plug of rock above the city; it is rather difficult to get a good view of it from the canal because of all of the buildings set along the canal. In this photo the top of the castle can just be made out above the block of flats in the centre of the picture.

Flats reflected in the Nottingham Canal
Flats built on former industrial land between Castle Boulevard and the canal, photographed on what was to be the hottest day - to date - of 2016.

Gunn & Moore, 1993
The famous Gunn & Moore cricket bats were still made by hand in a tiny old-fashioned factory on Haslam Street when this picture was taken, from the Castle, in March 1993. The view is entirely different now, with flats on the cleared site and the HM Revenue and Customs Offices on the other side of the canal. The terraced houses on Castle Boulevard, in the foreground, are still there. GM's headquarters is now on Trent Lane.

Old engine house
At the premises of William Woodsend Ltd, who have been in the building trade since 1839. There was doubtless originally a steam engine here to power the woodworking machinery on site.
