Nottingham - NG6 (Bestwood)
Woodman's Cottage is situated on the boundary between Bestwood Country Park and the perimeter of Bestwood village. This gate appears to exist to prevent motor vehicles entering the country park whilst allowing horses and their riders to pass unobstructed.

Nottingham - NG6 (Bestwood)
A view of the former parsonage (currently known as The Old Vicarage) from a farm track that branches off of Northern Drive on the edge of Bestwood Village towards the point where it enters Bestwood Country Park. The land (one and a quarter acres) was worth £250 at the time that it was donated by the Duke of St Albans. In addition, the Bestwood Coal and Iron Company also donated £250 towards its construction. It appears to consist of multiple small flats at the moment. This "No Through Road" leads to a disused tip and Quarryland Heath Conservation Area.

Bestwood Country Park - Parkside Pasture
This area of the Park has always been farmed and is now managed for wildlife diversity. The Country Park is particularly interesting in that it includes reclaimed industrial areas, (colliery and mill lakes), former farmland and the woodland part of the Bestwood Lodge estate.

Nottingham - NG6 (Bestwood)
A footpath running alongside a meadow forms part of what is known as Parkside Pasture. This “unimproved" (untreated) grassland, off Northern Drive (leading to/from Bestwood Village) seems to be the summer feeding ground of a flock of black fleeced Hebridean sheep.

Khalsa Wood
It is easy to imagine the woods of Bestwood Country Park as being typical of what Sherwood Forest, the Royal hunting preserve and home to Robin Hood would have been like. But what Robin Hood would not have come across is this Sikh carving of a Khanda. Khalsa wood is managed by the ranger service in conjunction with the Sikh community of Nottingham. Khalsa is the fellowship of baptised Sikhs and 1999 was the 300th anniversary of the birth of Khalsa.
