Armstrong Drive
The estate was developed from the southern end and for some time was not linked through towards Bulwell. At one point in the development, Armstrong Drive was stoppered at its northern end to prevent rat-running, and has remained so.

Path past Hempshill Hall Farm
One of the old farm barns, now converted to residential use, can be seen at the right hand side. The fence follows the line of the City Boundary, and historically there was a lane along here, which is why the footpath still exists as a right of way.

Afternoon mist in field at Hempshill
According to White's Directory of Nottinghamshire 1853, Hempshill was a small hamlet of 50 acres in the parish of Greasley. Hempshill Hall was the seat of George Bacon esquire. The hamlet has disappeared under the new Hempshill Vale estate, although the hall still exists (now converted to housing).

Hempshill Hall
The main front on the far side of the building presents a simple stuccoed aspect. This rear view shows that there is more complexity to the building. In fact much of it apparently retains a 16th and 17th century timber frame, but there was substantial rebuilding in the early 19th and mid 20th centuries. Listed Grade II.
