View from Bestwood Estate
From the old Padstow School site. The nearest houses with the hipped roofs are on Gainsford Crescent and date from the late 1930s. Next beyond them is the recent estate which replaced the former High Pavement College. Beyond can be seen one of the Baford gasometers, to its left the former Shipstones brewery, beyond it the Engineering Department tower at the university of Nottingham.

The back of Landcroft Crescent
The sharp fall of the hillside at this point made a natural boundary for the housing estates of the 1930s. The open space in the foreground was part of the former Padstow School grounds.

New housing on Arnold Lane
The land within the semicircle of Gainsford Crescent on the north side of Arnold Road has been developed for housing in the past few years. Previously the site was occupied by High Pavement College, resulting in the loss of a substantial area of potential open space and sports facilities.
