Somersby Road, Arnold, Notts.
With approximately 25% of the overall length of Somersby Road behind the photographer, this is a view of the southern-facing 75% of it, looking in the direction of Mapperley. Its junction with Plains Road, Mapperley, (the B684 Nottingham centre - Dorket Head road) is over the brow of the hill. Behind the bus stop a parade of shops serves the locality.

Somersby Road, Arnold, Notts.
With the first (or the last) 15% of the southern end of Somersby Road behind the photographer, this is panorama takes Daybrook, the central part of Arnold and beyond these, Redhill. In the centre of the photograph is a playing field used by both Arno Vale Junior School and Woodthorpe Infants School, which are situated on the east and west sides of the expanse.

Down Somersby Road
There are long views from Mapperley Plains (over 125m/410ft). This slightly foreshortened shot towards Arnold, with the hills south of Annesley on the distant skyline, emphasises the steepness of Somersby Road.

Somersby Road, Arnold, Notts.
Situated on the east side of the northern end of Somersby Road. The Good Shepherd Primary School looks as though it has here for a good many years and only its new, blue, name board - advertising its change of status in 2012 to that of an academy - indicates this important change to passers-by. The school is sponsored by the Pax Christi Catholic Academy Trust.

Houses on Somersby Road, Mapperley
With their semi bay windows, these houses reminded me of Image, although as the nearest example appears to be in close to as built condition, it seems they did not sport curved glass in the corners of their semi bays. This view also gives an idea of just how steep this part of Somersby Road is.
