Prior to this under, the Inclosure Act of 1792, all the land from Redcliffe Lane (Red Lane) up as far as the Private Road estate and from Mansfield Road to the St.Jude's Church boundary was allotted to Mr Ichabod Wright, who gave the land upon which St John's (Anglican) Church, Carrington was built.

Nottingham - NG5 (Mansfield Rd)
The Savoy Hotel, as the hotel in the picture was originally called, was built in the 1970s. From 2012 however, it was known as The Park Inn and most recently, since summer 2019, it has been re-badged as a Mercure Group hotel and is now known as The Nottingham Sherwood Hotel. It is seen in this picture on the other side of Mansfield Road (A60) from this entrance to the John Farr Rest Garden. This small public garden was established in memory of John Thomas Farr (1860-1951), a former managing director of the well-known Home Brewery in Daybrook, Notts. J. T. Farr was also a one-time councillor for Nottinghamshire City Council and for Arnold Urban District Council. This 'rest garden' was developed on the site of some 'tea gardens' that belonged to nearby "Black's Head Inn" (later renamed The Grosvenor Hotel). The Black's Head Inn (first mentioned in a White's Directory of 1844) was purchased by Sir John Robinson, the founder of Home Brewery in 1873, who changed its name in 1877.

Boundary Marker, Mansfield Road
This is the earliest surviving cast-iron boundary marker in the traditional Nottingham round-topped form. At the time of installation it represented the municipal boundary, but appears to have been left in place as a parish marker when the boundary was extended in 1877. Listed Grade II. See http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3903437 for location.
