Church of St John the Baptist, Colwick
The old parish church was the one adjacent to Colwick Hall, now in a ruinous state Image After an interregnum without a proper church, the parish was finally able to build this simple brick edifice which was consecrated in June 1951. Surprisingly for a church of this young age, it does not appear today as originally built. Initially intended to have a pitched roof, to save funds it was initially completed with a flat roof. Only in the 1980s were funds raised to raise the roof as originally intended. The newer mortar of the gable end can be discerned in the picture.
