Blyth Street, Mapperley
The road layout here was clearly established at the end of the 19th century, but development was apparently slow and piecemeal, as there are a variety of housing styles.

Transmission mast, Mapperley
There are a number of masts on the high ground of the Mapperley area as the location gives good local coverage not only of the whole city area but also for longer distances.

Nottingham - NG3
Two rows of terraced houses facing each other, with each house having its own tiny garden. This is Wycliffe Grove in the direction of Woodborough Road (B684) and it was taken from Quernby Road.

Staples Street, Mapperley
Although the road layout was developed at the same time as neighbouring Blyth Street Image, clearly there was more urgency in getting houses built.

Nottingham - NG5
This row of houses, known as Agnes Villas, looking towards Woodborough Road (B684) was taken from Quernby Road. Perhaps each house had its own tiny front garden in the past, as the properties in the parallel "street" - Wycliffe Grove - do ?

Agnes Villas
When built, these houses would have been sought after, with the luxury of a bay window giving extra space, and a convenient tram service into town just through the alleyway. Today, without any parking space adjacent they will be far less attractive (although the bus service is still frequent).

Mapperley: Horology Terrace, Ransom Road
A terrace with an intriguing name at the Woodborough Road end of Ransom Road. It was built in 1894, as Image] shows. Rob Noble has offered a possible explanation for the name: "The initials are suggestive of Francis Frederick Cope (1845-1901) of the Nottingham clockmaking firm G & F Cope. I'm not sure why this terrace is in Mapperley when the family was based in the Radford area, but I suppose as a successful businessman it is possible he would have invested his money in property across the city."
