Readers in remote rural areas are able to borrow books from a mobile library which calls regularly such as here at Pickworth although public spending cuts mean that the continuance of this service by Lincolnshire County Council is by no means secure.

There have been a number of organisations lobbying for churchyards to be used as wildlife havens, as resources for bees, and as a reservoir of wildplants. Pickworth churchyard is full of flowering plants, obviously planted to encourage the bees and the butterflies.
