End-on cottage
This is not the only house in the Village whose entrance does not open onto the road. In this case, it is a footpath, although the cottage obviously pre-dates the Victorian chapel on my left, and so would not have seemed so odd then. The mixture of brick and render suggests that the upper floor was added at the end of the 19th or the beginning of the 20th century. The roof material dates from the later half of the 20th century. The extension is rather larger than it looks, as can be seen in Image Note, too that the other aspect of the roof, seen there, is of pantiles rather than concrete tiles.

Walnut Tree Cottage
The cottage seen in Image has an unusual arrangement for its mail. It has a conventional letter flap, and this Georgian post box too.
