The old Great North Road
Looking towards the junction with the A1. The Great North Road, between London and Edinburgh, used to go through the middle of Grantham. Now the route takes the traffic to the west of the town. This is the old route about to join the new one on its way to London.

The old and the new
This is where the old Great North Road joins the A1 south of Grantham. The north bound slip road is to the right having crossed the bridge over the A1, and the south bound slip road is straight ahead.
