The sheep fair at Corby Glen, near Bourne, Lincolnshire
This annual event at Corby Glen every October is the last remaining of the great sheep fairs once held across England and owes its origins to a Royal Charter granted by Henry III in 1238. The fair starts on a Friday and continues throughout the weekend with stalls and sideshows and festivities of all kinds, a major occasion in the village calendar when families and old friends meet, culminating with the sale of sheep on the last day.

Lorry passing through the village
With a trailer carrying the details of "Statham Tyres" and a cab carrying the name of PFL motorsport, and a banner for the Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3. PFL is Pete Littler, who races in the British GT Championship in just such an Aston Martin. Peter is a remarkably determined man, who despite losing half his right leg whilst serving in the Army in Afghanistan raced the Aston unmodified in the 2016 series. His co-driver in the series was the far younger Jody Fanin. I am delighted to see this lorry, it suggests the team is still up and running.
