The Reading Room Cottage, High Street, Fulbeck
Grade II Listed 17th century house with 19th and 20th century alterations. The house was originally built as the Six Bells public house until it reopened as the Reading Room and Coffee Room in 1875. The last meeting of the Fulbeck Reading Room Committee was in 1959. The Reading Room was closed down because a youth club was to be opened in the village. I assume the adjacent 'Old Reading Room' was prior to the Six Bells demise and consequently moved here in 1875. Fulbeck is not well represented in early directories but I did find at the Six Bells; 1856-1872 John Elliot (& farmer).
