Floodgate and Suspension Bridge
The Environment Agency notice on the gate still calls this the Becket School Gate, though the school moved a number of years ago and its former buildings (behind the railings on the left) were demolished a year or so ago. The city-side pylon of Wilford Suspension Bridge shows in the centre. This is the arid summer of 2018, so the grass on Victoria Embankment is straw-coloured.

Through a Suspension Bridge arch
A view towards Trent Bridge from the Embankment Steps on the Bridgford side of the river, immediately south of Wilford Suspension Bridge. In the distance above the narrowboat, the setting sun catches the sails of Green's Windmill, a mile or so away in Sneinton.

Wilford Suspension Bridge on an August morning
A view from the riverside path from West Bridgford to Wilford. Above the rooftops on the Bridgford side of the river are - Australian readers look away - the six floodlight pylons at Trent Bridge Cricket Ground.

Notice on Wilford Suspension Bridge
A continued reminder of the fact that the primary purpose of the bridge was to carry a water main, rather than to provide a pedestrian crossing of the river.
