Henry Road, West Bridgford
Looking south along a street of Victorian semi-detached houses. Built in the days of a pre-car owning society, but it is noticeable that there was just space between the houses to get a garage in at the side [see the two on the left]; an alternative was to use that space to give access to the garden area at the rear for parking see Image

Henry Road, West Bridgford
Victorian villas in suburban Nottingham. I lived here from 1961-64, initially in the lower flat of no.33 on the left, and then upstairs. There have been changes in the time since then - the two semis appear to have been combined as one property to make three flats, with a drive at the left down to the rear, with tarmacked parking and bin space [we grew vegetables there]; the lower flat of no. 33 is now flat 1 of no. 35; the right hand door leads to a ground floor maisonette, flat 2 of no. 35 [for rent at £650 pcm - I think we paid 10 guineas a month for the upstairs flat]. I presume a third flat is upstairs on the right, accessed by a spiral stair at the south gable.

West Bridgford: flats on Musters Road
In a part of Bridgford almost entirely made up of Victorian and Edwardian villas of various sizes, this block on the corner of George Road is an exception.

Looking through a zoom lens from near the Loughborough Road end towards Henry Road and Musters Road. The Methodist Church, with its distinctive pagoda-roofed tower, is on the corner of Patrick Road and Musters Road - for a closer look, see Image

Built in 1899 to the design of R.C Sutton in basic 14th century style, the tower has a distinctively Art-Nouveau treatment. Listed Grade II.
