Easthorpe, the 'near' end
Easthorpe was originally the 'east village' or eastern suburb of Southwell. The name was doubtless given at a time when all the houses were on the main road, with the result that the name not only applies to the suburb, but specifically is used as the street name of the main road. It is the main road from Southwell to Newark, now the A612.
